What do scouts do?

Scouts is a place for those you want to give anything a go. Scouts comparises sections for young people from 4 to 18 ran by adult volunteers. Scouts of all ages take part in a huge range of activities that are adventurous, creativeful, skillful or thoughful. Through these activities young people gain skills, confidence and knowlesge.

Scouts is also a place for anyone of any age to come together to engage with eachother and benefit their communities. You can learn more here.

When will my child move up?

Young people move up to the next section within a few months reaching the age limit for their section. Beavers move to Cubs around their 8th birthday and Cubs move to Scouts around turning 10 1/2 years old.
The leaders will be touch with you when it is time and make the arrangements.

What happens after Scouts?

Once a young person is 14 and their time in the Scout section comes to an end there is a few options available.

Young Leader – Young leaders are members over 14 who help out at sections. They undergo a training program covering many topics such as safety, first aid and event planning to allow them to develop more skills.

Explorer Scouts – Explorer Scouts is another section of scouting for young people aged 14 – 18. This runs similar to younger sections allowing Explorers to further develop their skills and confidence with their peer group however Explorers is ran more centrally through the district rather than the group.

Young people also have the option to do both.
