A start of a new year of scouting is an exciting time. Each year feels like a new beginning with new challenges and new plans unfolding. Each section is coming up with great plans to challenge and develop our young people.
A new term is also an opportunity to reflect and we have had a great summer. Over 30 Cubs and Scouts joined us a Waddecar for our summer camp taking on a range of activities from baking and foraging to visiting a theme park and zoo. We also welcomed many parents and families for a BBQ providing an opportunity for them to see what camp is like and what activities are like on camp.
16th Wigan is a growing community and whilst we have welcomed many new helpers we are looking for those who can step up and be leaders. All sections would welcome new leaders but we are especially looking for leaders in Squirrels and Beavers. Being a leader is an adventure with lots of support available and can be more flexible than you might think. If this could be you please have a chat with a section leader or with Neil.
This year 16th Wigan are facing a series of increased expenses including rent and insurance. With this we are looking at our fundraising options. Our fantasy football has raised over £100 already and we are looking to host another Christmas party. Our fundraising really needs some help to take it further. On the 1st October at 6.30pm we are having our first booster club meeting to and we are looking those who can spare a little bit of time to organise some fundraising, whether that is an event, raffle or something different. This is a really flexible way to be involved with the group.
