On Friday night the scout section hosted a quiz and food night at the St Pauls Community Centre. Around 40 parents, friends, brothers and sisters had an evening of quizing fun and home cooked pizzas, burgers and spaghetti bolognaise expertly prepared by the scouts themselves.
To top the night off 3 scouts were also presented with their cheif scouts gold award. Kai, Ben and Sam who will soon move on to Explorers and Young Leadership collected the highest award in the scout section after completed all their challenge awards and nights away requirements. It is a great effort by the boys who not only started their scouting journey under COVID restrictions but also joined the movement later in life.

The entire night was planned and ran by the scouts who created the quiz, prepared the menu, cooked the food and sold tickets. In total their efforts raised £206 that will go towards new equipment, camp activities and maintenance that will benefit all sections.
Section Leader, Neil, also gave an update on adult volunteering with 16th Wigan where any time that an adult can spend in the support of the group has real benefits for the young people. If you are able to offer any time in any capacity please speak to your leader or email 16thwiganscouts@gmail.com.
